Time to Play

My absolute favorite time on a wedding day is our time for portraits!  The amount of time allowed for portraits varies by couple, but we manage to squeeze in as much as possible.  Timing on the wedding day is of extreme importance.  As I always tell my brides and grooms ” the caterer is going to serve the food at 7pm whether you are there or not”.  Our job is to make sure we capture great photos and get to the dance on time.  In the case of Jenn and Jason we did portraits at their house before the ceremony and had plenty of time to play!  We even had lunch before heading out to Embassy Suites for the ceremony and reception.  I even ran into Nicole and Matt, whose wedding I photographed years ago, who were in town for a family gathering.  It was a great day and many thanks to Jenn and Jason for all the time we got, as well as to Laurie for referring them to me.  Thank you so much!

Longwood Rules

Longwood Gardens seems to be the choice du jour lately when it comes to eSessions.  I’ll have done four there by the end of the month and every one will have been completely different.  Longwood has such an expanse of property that we go a different direction each time.  You might recall Katy and Vernon here.

We photographed Emily and Rob a week before their wedding and ventured toward the tree house and Japanese garden.  We had a blast and could have continued to photograph the afternoon away, but had to save something for their wedding day! Cora and Michael went for a more formal look in the conservatory, so the challenge was on.  I tried hard to loosen them up and portray an artistic side.  The results of both were stunning and completely different!  Long live Longwood Gardens!

A Senior Moment

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Schuyler at Gibraltar for her senior portraits.  Like many of the seniors in Delaware, she was not satisfied with the same ole, same ole she received through the school.  How many gazing at the plastic rose photos do we need?  My philosophy with seniors is simple.  Let them be themselves, make sure they have fun and explore great locations.  The results are a rewarding experience for the kids and a challenging artistic adventure for me.  I love doing portraits and seniors are so much fun to work with.  I think Schuyler’s Mom had fun, too!  Enjoy!

I’m offering special “senior” pricing until October for anyone interested.  Please email or call and I’d be thrilled to discuss a photo shoot.  The rest of Schuyler’s photos can be seen here.

Free Styling

One of the things I really love about my business is designing albums and sitting with my Brides and Grooms in front of the computer and fine-tuning their album!  Chrissy and Donald got married at Adventure Aquarium and we relived the day through the album layout.  An album should be an intimate story of the Bride and Groom and focus on their fabulous day.  Proof portfolios tell the story in detail, but albums artistically portray their love.  I design my albums in Photoshop CS3 by hand as the images dictate.  I have tried templates, but free-styling design is what my clients expect.  Here are some sample clips from their album.
