Lauren and Kevin

” As soon as Lauren met you, she knew there was a connection between you”, Nancy told me at their reception!  We had such a fun time sharing the day with Lauren and Kevin at The Old Mill in Rose Valley.  This was a party in the woods and guests really let their hair down! Lauren’s dad provided some acoustic moments, Kevin’s cousin showed us some new dance moves, and Kaitlyn promised to let me shoot her.  Lauren and Kevin will be lifelong friends, unless I don’t edit properly.  :)

Linda and I still laugh about the reception and the paparazzi!  Much love to you both!!

Kristy and Jack

“Just a perfect day, drink Sangria in the park. And then later when it gets dark, we go home.” Lou Reed’s vocals summed up Kristy and Jack’s wedding.  From the ceremony at St. Helena’s to the wine tasting/reception at Bellevue Hall, things fell into place.  Toscana provided an excellent dinner under the tent.  Linda and I had some great light upstairs to play with and did some stunning portraiture with Kristy.  I’m saving that for another post.  ;)   We had a wonderful portrait session cruising the grounds and run-down buildings.  Just perfect!

After many years, I finally ran into John McMenamin, a very cool videographer that I met at Rachel and Assaf’s wedding in 2003.  Kudos to Alessandra for taking the last shot of the night for me! Here’s some clips from the wedding!  I hope you enjoy them…

Tara and Jamie

Disturbance 58 had nothing on Tara and Jamie’s Wedding!  The skies cleared, the sand was plowed off the streets, and a good time was had by all.  The ceremony and the reception were held at North Beach in Dewey and the yellow school bus found its way!  Tara was a beautiful bride and Jamie couldn’t keep his eyes off her.  We ran into some old and new friends.  Tara is a cousin of today’s bride Lauren, so we had the pleasure of meeting various relatives including the officiant who had a thing for aged Irish Whiskey!  My old friends the Cropper’s were represented by 2 of their children who I have known since they were youngsters.  A great day indeed! Thank you so much!

Michigan Senior

blog_bg.jpg

I absolutely love doing senior portraits!  It allows me to be artistic and reward the seniors with awesome images. It allows the kids to be themselves and have a blast without the rigid structure of a cattle shoot.  We may not always agree on the great images, but I’m sure Brianna will cut me some slack on my blog choices.

My portrait sessions are about experiences and capturing these memories for generations to come.  It is not always about the photo, but about the where, when, why and how the image came to be.  Brianna, Laura, Danielle, Julia, and myself explored rural areas of Michigan that are just waiting to be photographed.  Stopping at a farm, wading in a lake, walking through the woods, and distracting traffic downtown are experiences that won’t soon be forgotten.  Thank you for being a great girl and for sharing these memories!  For the complete story:   Brianna

No Photography?

This is great!  Today’s wedding included a surprise.  As the father and his daughter were standing in front of the alter, the priest announced to the congregation that photography was not allowed during the ceremony.  I thought excellent, the paparazzi armed with their digital cameras won’t be flashing the alter like the 4th of July.  So I photograph the father kissing his daughter and the priest yells out “that includes you” to me.  Wow!  Thanks for the warning com padre!  I immediately felt sorry for the Rachael and Juston who have become friends and without a word attached my 70-200 lens and went out the doors.

Thanks to the Rolls driver that held the door open for me!  Rachael and Juston had a great day and thanks to The Episcopal Church for providing the “Sanctity of Marriage”!
